workshops encourage a very personal interaction with the materials, and enjoyment of the creative process. They are a journey of discovery - a response to this wonderful wild landscape and environment. Most of all - they are great fun!

Workshops with larger groups or specific projects can be arranged. Longer courses are available at various times during the year and especially school holidays.

Liz has worked in the arts for many years, and taught a wide range of people - of all ages and abilities. Wild and Art workshops are friendly and informal and everyone should leave feeling encouraged and pleased with their work - a great reminder of your holiday to take home!

Weaving

How to develop a 2D image into a textile piece, using traditional methods, and a variety of materials both found and sourced locally.

A significant part of this workshop will involve colour / texture appreciation, and the pieces produced will tend to reflect this, being less representational and more design based.

four seasons weaving

printmaking

flock

An opportunity to experiment with a selection of printing methods, ( eg. lino, stamping, wood block).

After choosing one technique, you will go on to design and produce printing blocks, and using these, develop your ideas into final prints

drawing

A series of exercises in sketching, using pencil, charcoal, pen/ink, and pastel, encouraging a bold use of light, shade and movement, going on to produce strong final pieces, reflective of the surrounding landscape.

water colour

An introduction to some basic techniques and studies, going on to develop a finished piece, based on the surrounding landscape.

Students will be encouraged to experiment and allow their own individual, personal style to begin to emerge.

wind swept

mixed media

mixed media

A contemporary technique which produces rich, multi dimensional surfaces and images.

Simple studies develop into a piece in response to a theme.

Work can include a variety of media ie pastel, collage, paint, photos etc.

sculpture

An appreciation of the natural forms in the landscape around us.

Preliminary studies and sketches will develop into 3D pieces in an appropriate medium, ie clay, paper mache, wood, wire, etc.
